Hartness Seeks to Revolutionize Printing and Label Decorating Industry

Press Release, April 9, 2008

Greenville, SC - Once again, Hartness International has developed a packaging solution that has the potential to impact the productivity, profitability and sustainability initiatives of manufacturing and consumer products companies around the globe. Hartness’ latest innovation is a new business unit, Hartness-Inks™. Hartness-Inks unites the packaging experience of Hartness International with a new proprietary ink technology for direct print labeling on a variety of bottles and containers.

Hartness-Inks’ Uvaclear™ is an ultraviolet curable ink that is supplied in a wide range of colors, including metallics. The unique benefit of this UV-cured product is that it offers brightly defined colors and images that capture consumer attention on the store shelf, yet possess the durability of Applied Ceramic Labels (ACL), sleeves, or paper labels. Uvaclear is ecologically friendly and directly supports sustainability efforts by eliminating heavy metals, utilizing substantially less energy than a traditional ACL process, and eliminating waste generated by paper labels. The organic nature of the ink makes it suitable for recycling as it is burned off during the recycle process without contamination. This technology also offers a sustainable alternative to sleeve labels, which are generally not able to be recycled.

Hartness-Inks continues Hartness International’s commitment toward developing innovative solutions to the ever-changing demands of the market. Hartness International has long been known as one of the world's most innovative packaging solution providers. Headquartered in Greenville, SC, and with offices in Kleve, Germany and Mexico City, Hartness boasts more than 100 patents in over 20 countries.
